A youth group reunion – all my old church friends gathered in this yard next to a shopping plaza. A blurry conversation with Christy McCloud, my youth group leader. Change of scenery. Inside China Wok now. I step outside the front door and suddenly everyone disappears and everything inside the restaurant is dark. I run towards the field. In my imagination someone is chasing me and then it’s really happening. I jump up off the ground and flail my arms – gradually floating away from the problem. The person chasing me is Skippy. He barely brushes his hand on my foot as I push farther away. Finally I gain enough momentum to reach high altitudes. As if Skippy knew what I was trying to do he protests, “You’ll never make it!” But I continue getting acclimated to the sky atmosphere. Suddenly, without reason Skippy jumps with ease up to my level and reaches out to me. I fly backwards at incredible lightening speeds with him in pursuit. A vision of the clouds and stratosphere shifting past us.

Waking up on time.

Grapes. Strawberry Cereal Bar. Orange Juice.

Just another eleven-hour day in wok purgatory.

Hot-ass days – gotta love them.

Toasted Peanut Butter Sandwich. Potato Chip Trio. Honey Green Tea.

It’s pretty busy for the daytime.

Cliff Bar (Chocolate Chip Coconut). More Grapes.

The night continues.

For the last leg of my shift I’m on the phone with Kristin. We’ve been in and out of text contact throughout the day. I’m a little blindsided by some of the passive aggressiveness in her personality. Coming to some better understandings on our respective desires and needs.

Hot and Sour Soup with Rice and Spring Rolls.

Watching Addams Family Values (1993).

Fortune cookie says, “If you don’t think about the future, you can’t have one.”

Sleep at 3 a.m.
