Waking up at 10:40 a.m.

Meeting up at First Watch, a local brunch spot, with dad, mom, Ana, and Patty. It’s a long wait to get the food but totally worth it and we enjoy quality time with each other.

French Toast. Bacon. Coffee.

On the drive back to Hilltop – sitting in the passenger seat while dad drives – my mom texts him. The robot voice speaks out the text on the console, “thanks for being a great dad”.

I write out a card for him later,

“Dad,
I really appreciate you “being a great dad” as mom put it earlier today. It never was a simple situation growing up, but despite that, you were always there to help shape me into the man I became. Thanks for being supportive to this family. I love you and I’m proud to call you my dad!”

Napping.

Catching up on business and eating Potato Chips.

Later, dad and Patty pick me up and we enjoy some quality time on the Dam Neck beach. Because my dad’s retired Air Force he gets a lot of life benefits with the military. There’s a good amount of other families and people out here. The sun is shining just right. Sand crabs are picking fights with our feet. Supposedly sharks are roaming the waters so nobody dares go too far out in the water.

I give my dad the card. I watch him wade his feet in the water looking out on the ocean. It’s a serene scene.

Afterwards, we grab some dinner at Baker’s Crust. Enjoying some Fish Tacos with Corn on the Cob.

Sleep 4 a.m.
