Christmas Card from Calvin (December 23 2014)[i]

Waking up at 11 a.m.

Kevin's having trouble starting his car again. His driver's door doesn't shut all the way and sometimes leaves the dome light on causing his battery to die. He also tends to leave his dome light on in general overnight. Reluctantly, I drag my feet and spend a good 25 minutes of my morning helping to jumpstart his car.

Oatmeal with Cinnamon, Maca Powder, Maple Syrup, Blueberries, Chia Seeds, and Almond Milk. Coffee with Honey.

Writing personable notes on the customized Christmas cards – one for my bosses at Music Makers, one for my bosses at China Wok, one for my mom, and one for my dad.

PB&J. Bosc Pear. Pu-erh Tea.

At Music Makers teaching piano and voice lessons. I continue to receive holiday cards and little gifts from my students. So far I've gotten Starbucks, Gordon Biersch, Whole Foods, Amazon, and Google Play gift cards. DeeGee, the lady that handles all the scheduling here at the studio, got me a Christmas themed Chinese takeout box filled with homemade M&M Cookies. I of course indulge in a few.

At the Rec Center for adult basketball. With barely five teams there's not much bench time. After missing a crucial clutch shot that lost us the game one of my teammates assures me, "It's not about winning. It's all about the burn." I agree with him but I still feel disappointed in myself.

I stop by Kroger for some last minute groceries. Then, I stop by China Wok to give my bosses their Christmas card. I used Chinese characters to say "Merry Christmas" with. Cecily's face brightens up real big when I hand over the card. The little girls get excited too. I still don't know how much they celebrate this holiday. I sometimes wonder if they do any kind of gift exchanging. Either way it feels good to show my gratitude for them.

Making Oat and Almond Biscuit dough to brings with us tomorrow when Ana and I visit my dad for Christmas. Meanwhile, Kevin and Richie slurp down cans of PBR and watch Christmas-themed Twilight Zone episodes.
