Ruth Etting.[i]

Waking up around 1 p.m.

Honey Crunch n Oats with Vanilla Almond Milk.

Catching up on writing.

Tuna Salad Sandwich with Tomatoes. Salsa Tortilla Chips with Hummus. Honey Green Tea. Blueberries.

At the Rec Center working out and shooting hoops.

Darren and Devon arrive home.

While slurping up the sweet and juicy Watermelon I say, "Man, I could turn into a watermelon and I'd be happy."

Darren: "Then black people would eat you."

Me: "Huh?"

Kashi Lemongrass Chicken with Red Quinoa and Mixed Greens. Sunflower Toast.

Watching Adore (2013).

Perle Noire Chocolates.

"Reflections are so tedious, aren't they?"

Learning some songs on guitar. When I was a kid I was exposed to NOFX's song "Olive Me (All of me)" and it became a nostalgic anthem back then. The song came up on my iPod today and I was behooved to research online and had no idea it was a cover of Ruth Etting from 1931.

It's fascinating for me to hear these two songs performed almost 70 years apart. A punk band deconstructed and simplified it; and yet the same emotions of the song remain the same. Gives me more reason to believe music really is the universal language.

Pretzels.

Sleep 4 a.m.
