I’m a student in an elementary school. It’s understood that I’m 21 years old, which in waking life would be strange but here in dream world it is not. I only have three fellow classmates. During P.E. I encourage a game of wall ball with one of the boys. He’s never played so I show him how to play. We’re in the gym and there are hoops. With haste I search in the supply room for a basketball but all the balls on the racks are low on air. I locate the air pump and the needle. Having trouble attaching the needle to the pump. For some reason there’s a roll of Sonic stickers stuffed inside the pump. Carefully I remove it. Our teacher walks in on me.

Considering how all these balls are airless I ask him, “So I guess nobody really plays basketball around here?”

“No, they don’t,” he replies.

He explains that we need to move on to the classroom to learn about computers. But before we leave he sneaks up behind me and playfully touches my private area. It’s uncomfortable. I react with a laughable, “Whoa!”

Waking up indefinitely at 11 a.m. but something keeps me trapped here in bed – I just don’t feel like getting up.

Instant Blueberry Oatmeal. Orange Juice.

All day shift at China Wok.

My first leg of orders are nothing but unimpressive. Feeling the shitty tip sting I yell out loud in the car, “Just another wonderful fucking day at China Wok!”

Grilled Cheese with Tomato and Hummus. Potato Chip Trio. Honey Oolong Tea.

It’s officially Delivery Driver Unappreication Day here at China Wok. Have you stiffed your delivery driver today?

The fact of the matter is in the tipping business fluctuation is unavoidable. Some days are bad. Some days are good. Some days are mediocre. And some days are full of Darren-esque rage. Today just happens to be the latter. But whatever. Redemption is around the corner. The few generous customers help balance things out with their $7 to $10 tips.

Treating myself to a cup of Coffee from 7-11. I crank up the volume on the stereo. Feeling angsty and ripe with a newfound energy. Singing along to Joy Division’s “Digital”

Feel it closing in
Feel it closing in
Day in, day out
Day in, day out
Day in, day out
Day in, day out!

Fried Shrimp with Broccoli, Onions, Carrots, and Rice in Garlic Sauce.
