Getting caught up in my head spitting out thoughts on Facebook, a virtual world where everyone’s talking about the current Black Lives Matter movement.

I want to keep spreading good information and messages that push for correct action. Forget about what side you are on politically. I’m not even going to get into that, even if it is relevant. For the past few weeks I have been trying to sharpen my perspective on the #BlackLivesMatter movement. I would hope everyone else is doing the same. There seems to be a lot of confusion and misinterpretation on what #DefundThePolice means. I know it sounds extreme but it does not mean No Police. It’s about funding other programs that would inadvertently prevent crimes – setting up and supporting community organizations that focus on the health of a person in society (mental, physical, spiritual, social, financial, etc.) This is all easier said than done of course. But it is happening now. Look up what the Minneapolis city council is doing right now. The police are overwhelmed. They’re tired and the system they’re stuck in is affecting their roles. We want to set up smarter safety nets to de-escalate and resolve situations as opposed to always putting a person with a gun in the mix.

Despite what some media outlets are portraying the movement is working! We’re coming together and things are going to change. You can’t stop these groundbreaking progressions. It’s a longtime coming and the time is now. Don’t allow your predispositions to dismiss the facts/truths that are out there. All of America needs to get on board and be in solidarity with it! Keep the conversation going and respect the black voices that deserve to be heard!
