Waking up around 11 a.m. from a deep sleep.
Irish Oatmeal with Cinnamon, Maca Powder, Maple Syrup, Strawberries, and Kefir. Yerba Mate Tea.
Getting a couple things on my car fixed at Lee Papa's.
Having an eye exam at Gilbert Eye Care across the street from my house. The doctor there is very nice and personable. He mentions putting his 8-year-old son into the School of Rock, a different rock school from the one I work at. The prescription for my eyes hasn't changed since the last time.
Ana and I take advantage of the sunshine and 70 degree weather to shoot some hoops near Lynnhaven Middle School.
Half a Grapefruit. Kale.
Scrambled Eggs. Toast with Non-Dairy Cream Cheese. Potato Chips with Avocado. Oolong Tea. Opal Apple.
Watching Straight Outta Compton (2015).
Teaching lessons at Music Makers. Soraya, one of my 7-year-old students tells me how she's afraid to sing in front of her friends at school. Something as simple as telling her to "believe in yourself" is enough to encourage her. In response she writes me a little post-it note saying "You are cool (heart) Soraya". It's the little things...
Getting some groceries at Trader Joe's.
Brown Rice Quinoa Spaghetti Noodles with Tomato Basil Sauce, Mushrooms, Green Peppers, and Onions. Salad. Shortbread Cookies.
Applesauce. Pomegranate Tea.
Talking with Ana in her bedroom for a little bit. She's been dealing with some anxiety lately and doesn't know why. In the end it's just psychological warfare in her brain. I use an analogy of her being in a dark room with nothing in it where her mind makes up fears of something being there but really all she has to do is turn the light switch on and see that the room is empty. I wish I could turn that switch on for her.
