Waking up at 11 a.m.

Oatmeal with Cinnamon, Blueberries, Maple Syrup, and Almond Milk. English Breakfast Tea.

Ana chauffer’s me around taking care of a few last minute errands – paying some stuff at the Treasurer’s office – grabbing some gear.

She drops me off at the Norfolk airport – meeting up with the rest of the ELO gang. And thus begins the “hurry up and wait” adventures at the airport.

PB&J with Plantain Chips and an Iced Coffee.

Our first flight is in route to Dallas, then from there to Palm Springs, California.

Grabbing a nice Spinach and Hearts of Palm Salad before the next flight. In route to Cali I plug in my headphones and listen to music, something I don’t often get to do (listening to music for strictly pleasure). It’s therapeutic while watching all the tiny crop circles and desert mountains drift by the plane window.

We arrive in Palm Springs. The whole airport is designed as an outside facility – surrounded by palm trees of course. At the Agua Caliente Resort. We all gather at a restaurant for a free meal. Don’t have to worry about paying for food cause we get food vouchers. This place is fancy. The sound and lights from the slot machines in the casino are a constant background noise. Apparently, all the rooms are sold out/booked. So we anticipate a huge show tomorrow.

As soon as I tell Nigel they have a roulette table here it’s on. Kevin tells me that’s his weakness. 22 is his lucky number that he stays committed to. Unfortunately, I witness a lot of money go down the drain. “What can ya do?” he says. I consider trying my hand at the poker tables but decide to settle down in my hotel room. Got the whole luxury abode to myself!
