Waking up at 11 a.m.

Steel Cut Oatmeal with Cinnamon, Strawberries, Maple Syrup, and Kefir. Guayusa Tea.

Most of my day will be spent loading gear in and out of cars.

First up it’s the Music Makers Recital at Bella Monte. It takes a lot of courage to get up to the stage and all 21 one of our students performed amazingly. I’m so proud of everyone. Even my mom got a chance to sing that Billy Joel song, “Vienna”, with Calvin on the piano. I prepared somewhat a speech this time, or at least talking points.

After the show it clears out. Mom and I enjoy hot plates of Capellini Noodles with Salmon and Bread.

Now on to the next event. Music Makers has a time slot at the carnival off Great Neck at Church of the Holy Family. I get there around 5 p.m. to load up stuff onto the stage and then go back home to recharge.

PB&J. Green Tea.

Back at the carnival we put on another rock school show, but a condensed and express one. The Lemon Heads, The Rockin’ Kiwis, The Wolfpack, and The Skull Shakers tear up the stage and perform to a packed audience. While I’m up there supporting the bands on guitar and drums all I see is a sea of people. All the bands did great considering no one had a rehearsal since the last rock school show.

Earlier, I messed up and didn’t leave Ana’s car key at the house so she could drive to the carnival after work. So that left The Skull Shakers with no bass player. And on top of that Brett, their original drummer couldn’t make it cause of a finger accident. Luckily, Katey Moss happens to be here and fills in without any prior knowledge of the songs and Drew fills in on bass, also without prior knowledge of the bass parts. With my constant coaching and direction we get through the set with flying colors.

Ana ends up riding her bike here anyway much later. I was upset with the situation because I figured out the mistake I made while I was on stage and the band was ready to go on. We have a stressful talk when she arrives that eventually ends with a hug, encouraged by mom, and us walking over to the baked goods table to buy some cupcakes and cookies.

Back home. I walk in and release a big well deserved sigh of relief.

“Wow! It’s over now,” I announce to the house.

Enjoying some food at the table with Ana. Salad.

Chamomile Tea.

Sleep at 2:30 a.m.
