DREAM: On the shore of a lake. There’s people swimming and using kayaks or canoes. I inquire about renting one. It’s a deposit of $35. I pay the man and hop over to the water to grab my boat, which looks like a kayak but made out of a strong nylon material with a place for two people to sit. I realize I don’t have paddles. I’m barefoot running across shards of shells with sharp edges sticking out. I need to be careful but rushing to get back. Broken paddles all over the place. Found one! As soon as I turn around I see that someone else has already taken my boat out in the water. The sun is setting and it’s understood the place will be closing. I hear a whistle, which means it’s over. Ugh. “I didn’t even get the chance to use my boat!”

Waking up around 2 p.m.

Breakfast: Plain Bagel with Cream Cheese. White Nectarine. Orange Juice.

Errands.

Stopping by Anthony’s thrift store—helping him dump discarded store items into one of those box dumpsters. Picking up a few posters with school-themed statements on it like LEARNING WILL TAKE YOU PLACES and BE PART OF THE SOLUTION NOT THE PROBLEM and YOU ARE ENTERING A LEARNING ZONE.

Kevin demands there be a dark and serious version of The Power Rangers. “Yeah! Like, The Dark Night. It needs to be called Angel Grove. Nothing comical. A serious version of The Power Rangers. Like, Lord Zedd as a real evil villain…” Blah Blah Blah. Maybe it wouldn’t work but it’d be nice to see someone try.

Lunch: Grilled Cheese with Tomato. Salt n Vinegar Chips. Honest Ade White Peach Tea.

Margot’s at work. Over at her Nana’s house using their water hose to clean out the HHO system in my car.

Watermelon.

Musicplayer practice at the storage unit with Chris. Keeping the songs fresh in our mind and soul. Preparing for studio sessions in July.

Back home.

Emily walks through the door with Ambrotious in her arms. “Ambrotious! Kitty!” He’s going to be staying with me for a few weeks until Emily gets her new place. Aw. I missed him. My son. My kitty. He’s got a collar with a jingle bell attached to it so I can hear him wherever he goes.

This is exactly what our reunion was like:

Most of the kids are here. Margot describes a story of some bandits that ordered food at her work and only paid half of the bill then walked out. Infuriated, she was able to chase them down. Motorcycle cops show up and handle everything.

Packing into James’s car. Stopping by McDonalds. Hot Fudge Sundae. Then, Wal Mart. As we’re walking in I notice James carrying his hamburger, “How perfect is this? You’re eating a hamburger from McDonalds as we’re going into Wal-Mart.” Two of the biggest corporations in America. Anthony makes a snide remark towards me about pointing out the associations with consumerist culture.

Inside, throwing a blue bouncy ball around—play fighting with plastic laser swords. Roughhousing with Carmen—it almost gets to be too much when it feels like a blood vessel pops near my eye where my glasses got knocked into. Angry sarcasm, but mildly serious and in a vengeful mood. I’m supposed to be the father and we’re acting like brother and sister—sibling rivalry.

Dinner: Spicy Black Beans with Rice. Salad with Red Peppers and Carrots. Fresh Garlic Bread.

Margot’s on her laptop playing some True Blood clue game. “I did it!” She’s very excited about winning.

Passing Carmen in the hallway I reach out my hand, “Truce.” She accepts.

Of course, the first night Ambrotious is here he gets outside. Kevin let him out when going to smoke a cigarette. Enjoy the woods, Amby. I know you’ll be back.

Sleep 3:30 a.m.
