Elliott at the Williamston Track (Jan 8 2016)[i]

Waking up at 11:27 a.m.

Steel Cut Oatmeal with Cinnamon, Maple Syrup, Strawberries, Maca Powder, and Kefir. Yerba Mate Tea.

Organizing. Packing and preparing for my trip to North Carolina with Elliott and Michelle.

Cleaning.

Tuna Salad Sandwich with Lettuce and Tomato. Corn Tortilla Chips with Avocado and Salsa. Oolong Tea. Orange.

Watching Swordfish (2001).

Elliott and Michelle scoop me up from the house and we head to Williamston, North Carolina for the night go-kart races (Elliott is competing tomorrow). We make two Burger King stops on the way, but only for Michelle to go to the bathroom. Elliott says Burger King is his sponsor and he can only make restroom stops here.

We link up with Dennis Kapuchuck's trailer where Elliott shares the space to work on his kart.

Eating leftover Lentils, Brussel Sprouts, Carrots, and Quinoa.

Throughout the night I try to capture some b-roll footage with my HD camera. Watching the races you can really feel the adrenaline the drivers must feel behind the wheel. It's exciting. There's a crash during almost every lap of any race you watch. It's a whole other world here. I stand out like a sore thumb with my blue pants and the strange looking stereo microphone attached to the camera. Racing culture is alive here in this redneck part of Carolina. And I'm just along for the ride.

We finally leave the racetrack and locate the Days Inn. All my clothes smell like tire prep. Settling down on a pullout bed from a sleeper couch – shuteye around 2:45 a.m.
