I experience some lingering frustration when trying to text Jessica, a former roommate of mine, about getting her to sign her name off the lease. She moved out months and months ago and we need her to sign off so we can add the new person that will be moving in September 1st. She also still owes me $27 in back rent. It's an on-going text conversation throughout the evening. I'm trying to convince her of something that was already explained before she moved out back at the end of May, that she owed me $27 from her share of the electric and internet bill and that the bathroom wall needed to get painted back to it's original color. What's so frustrating about it is she keeps saying things like, "I don't believe that's true." Huh? It's not a matter of opinion. I keep accurate records of all the house's bills and what everyone pays me. I explain to her that it's not fair because it's the same as me loaning $27 to her. Her responses are out of left field mentioning her annoyances with the other roommates and the undesirable living conditions, using that as a way to justify not paying her debt.

Me: "You're in denial. You're just looking for anything you can to justify your decision and deny your financial responsibility."

...

It doesn't matter anymore. I don't know why disagreements like this bother me so much. It's important for me to settle disputes and not have ought with others. But it just baffles me how ignorant people can be, how blind they can make themselves by looking for any little thing to justify their unwarranted decisions. Nobody really cares about logic or facts. It becomes apparent in situations like this just how much people live in their heads.
I come up with this while venting to Ana in the car: "Ignorance is stronger than acceptance. Fantasy is stronger than reality."

Off work and back home.

Singapore Rice Noodles. Maple Leaf Cookies. Crispin Brut.

Watching The Conspiracy (2012).

Keeping an eye on the fruit fly traps I put out. I had to upgrade them with plastic baggies to actually keep them trapped and force them to drown. These buggers are relentless horny little bastards though. As some die more multiply. It's very stressful. I do my best to remove any pungent food or alcoholic drink containers. While vacuuming and cleaning downstairs I discover a trail of ants from the back door to the piano. I remember Darren plastered the piano keys with honey a while back to deter people from playing it at 3 o'clock in the morning but now it's just become another problem. Tonight a war is waged on any and all pesky insects of the house. The only friendlies I'll allow to live are the daddy longlegs. The least they could do is eat the ants and flies. But no, they just dance quietly below our feet everywhere you go.

Sleep 4:30 a.m.
