My room mate Emily keeps opening and shutting the door to our room. I wake up every time. She’s only getting ready for work and organizing things. But it’s annoying when my dreams keep getting jarred. I finally decide to get out of bed at 1:27pm.
My dream: It’s raining at night. I’m trying to find a place I can read a book out loud. There’re people standing underneath a gas station roof waiting for the rain to stop. I walk over hoping I can read my book. A guy decides it would be a good idea to check out this industrial air vent built into a hill right next to the gas station. All of sudden the vent turns on and sucks the air in pulling the guy inside it. There’s a lot of dust. I warned him beforehand that it could be dangerous. I look in through the big vent and see him lying there holding onto something. He starts crawling to the opening.

Reading some of Notebooks of a Naked Youth, I notice a similar mood when I read Beautiful Losers by Leonard Cohen. Both narrators being self-loathing and explicit, not afraid to express the dark side of their nature. There are a lot of noteworthy jewels in both books that I cherish. One of them from Notebooks…“The important thing is not to blush; to be funny and not to show any weakness; to keep our emotions hidden to our chests like a hand of cards. Then you might at least have a chance at winning, and might be able to truly smash the other fellow before he stands and is ready to fight. Which, of course, is only fair, right, and proper.”
